On Sunday the 14th November 2010, The Black Skull Corps of Fife & Drums had the great honour of leading the Kilwinning Branch of the Royal British Legion through the streets of Kilwinning to commemorate Remembrance Sunday. The Band have proudly been involved in this solemn event since 2006, and long may it continue.
Once again the Band paraded from the Town Centre to the War Memorial to pay respect, and to remember the Fallen of the two Great Wars, as well those who have given their lives in present day conflicts.
This commemoration is one of the highlights of the year in the Bands' calendar, and it is also the last engagement that the band accepts each year.
At the end the day's proceedings, the Band marches back to the Kilwinning Amateurs Band Hall for the customary steak pie meal and welcoming refreshments, served up By Elaine Young, wife of the Bands' conductor, Willie.
On behalf of all the Band, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Elaine and Willie for their kind hospitality,
but a special thanks goes to Elaine, who never stops working from the moment we arrive, until the time we board our coach and head back up the road to Glasgow. Thank you.
